Since the main project of the first unit of the project—Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 1 was officially started on April 19, 2009, with the joint efforts of both China and the United States, relying on the project is progressing steadily in accordance with the established plan. AP1000 nuclear power plants featuring advanced technologies such as non-active safety systems, "factory prefabrication, and modular construction" are moving from drawing to reality step by step in China.

The completion of 18 major milestones in one year and the steady progress of relying on the project are what is the concept? This may not be noticed in the hearts of ordinary people. However, it is not the same feeling in the nuclear power industry. Zeng Jun, director of the project management department of the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, told the author that this achievement was “not easy to come by” and was “very valuable” in the world’s new nuclear power construction.

The world's "first heap" challenge

Relying on the project, 4 units are the first AP1000 nuclear power units in the world. AP1000 nuclear power technology is a third-generation advanced nuclear power technology developed by Westinghouse. In the design, it takes the prevention and mitigation of serious accidents as the requirements that must be met, and has higher security than the second-generation nuclear power technology. At the same time, a passive safety system (using natural laws such as gravity, fluid convection, evaporation, condensation, etc. instead of externally-powered pumps, fans, etc.) is creatively adopted. Once an accident is expected, it can be automatically put into operation. Requires any AC power supply, can eliminate the need for operator intervention within 72 hours, greatly reducing the possibility of human error, thus greatly improving the safety of the power station; simplifying the system setup and process layout, shortening the construction period, and making the AP1000 The safety performance has been significantly improved and the economy has been improved. In the construction of nuclear power plants, the “building block prefabrication and modularization construction” method was used for the first time to expand the work surface and ensure the construction progress. Improve the construction conditions and efficiency, help shorten the construction period, and so on. It is these advantages that made it stand out from other strong opponents in 2006 when China’s third-generation nuclear power international tenders (see Note 2 for details).

However, the advanced concept of "friendly" function is not an easy task. The 60-year design life of the AP1000 nuclear power plant imposes stringent requirements on the quality of related equipment and materials, and places high demands on equipment manufacturing and material production enterprises in China. For example, the AP1000's unique steel containment structure, with a diameter of 40 meters and a thickness of only 40 millimeters, has a high heading, tube pressing, welding, and transportation requirements for materials, technology, or craftsmanship. The world's largest crane is used. When lifting in place, precision requirements are no less than "embroidery." However, under the close cooperation of the project management, owners and construction units, domestic enterprises have created a number of new records for China’s nuclear power construction through independent innovation and scientific practice: the world’s first to master AP1000 nuclear island mass concrete. The one-time monolithic casting process and technology (see note 3 for details) ensured project quality, effectively shortened the main construction period, and produced a positive demonstration role for the second-generation nuclear power projects under construction in China; it took the lead in overcoming nuclear island steel safety. Shell manufacturing technology (see Note 4 for details) solves the problem of the integral molding and lifting transportation of the steel plate as a whole. It took the lead in mastering the modular manufacturing and construction technology (see Note 5 for details) and achieved parallel construction of civil works and installations. The advanced concept of modular construction has become a reality. In addition, in the industry support for providing localized equipment support for the project, domestic companies worked together to successfully break through AP1000's main pipelines and key equipment forgings manufacturing technology, and in one fell swoop tackled the major technical difficulties that restrict the development of China's nuclear power, relying on the project supply Provides safeguards, while significantly increasing the overall level of China's nuclear power equipment manufacturing and technical capabilities, breaking the monopoly of foreign companies in the high-end large-scale castings and forgings market.

As the first batch of AP1000 nuclear power plants in the world, there are no direct experiences to learn from the difficulties encountered in engineering construction. Only relying on cooperation and innovation will continue to overcome one or the other. Zeng Jun told reporters that the world’s first nuclear power plant constructed using new technologies has not been delayed. However, China's third-generation nuclear power AP1000 relied on project construction. With the joint efforts of engineering technology and project management personnel from both China and the United States, it has continued to overcome difficulties. The world’s advanced nuclear power technologies are being transformed from drawings to engineering reality step by step. Progress is satisfactory. The effectiveness of "specialized management"

While building 4 units supporting the project, the National Nuclear Power Technology Company signed a contract with the state on behalf of the country and introduced a full set of AP1000 nuclear power technology. The aim is to integrate and promote innovation through practice and technology digestion and absorption, and lay a foundation for China’s autonomy at a high starting point. basis. Therefore, as a bearer of project management, the National Nuclear Power Technology Company places special emphasis on the role of a good foundation in the implementation of good projects. In the construction of 4 units, it strives to achieve the essence of project construction and management through specialized management.

In the construction that relied on the project for more than one year, the National Nuclear Power Technology Corporation gave full play to its advantages of “specialized management” and paid great attention to the summarization, feedback, and optimization of construction experience among different nodes and between different units of the same unit. With the cooperation of parties, owners, module processors, and equipment manufacturers, AP1000's unique nuclear island-based large-scale concrete placement, modular construction, steel containment (CV) manufacturing and lifting technologies and processes are continuously optimized. Mature, construction reliability and efficiency continue to increase.

Zeng said that AP1000 construction technology has gradually matured, mainly reflected in two aspects: First, AP1000 nuclear power plant construction peculiar construction technology through repeated practice and experience feedback, optimized processes, has formed a technical package to guide the relevant construction; second is to build The time of the same process in the process is steadily controlled or gradually shortened.

Taking the steel containment (CV) bottom head lifting as an example, the entire process took 188 minutes at the construction of Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 1 and 159 minutes at Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant No. 1 construction took place at the three gates. Nuclear Power Unit 2 and Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 2 were stable at 98 minutes. The mass of the valve base mass of the nuclear island is integrally poured. The average pouring speed of Sanmen No. 1 unit is 106 cubic meters per hour, and that of Haiyang No. 2 unit has been increased to 126.2 cubic meters per hour; CV steel plate is pressed, assembled, transported and hoisted. The process, after the practice of 4 units, is more mature and complete, and it has the conditions for technology replication. The construction of a new AP1000 modular equipment base in Wuhan will be started. It will provide construction for inland AP1000 nuclear power in Hubei Xianning, Hunan Taohuajiang, Jiangxi Pengze and other inland areas. Strong support.

The advantages of professional management provide a solid guarantee for completing the high efficiency of 18 nodes a year under the premise of ensuring safety and quality. At the same time, it will also provide strong support for improving the safety and quality of nuclear power construction, shortening the construction period of nuclear power, and even large-scale construction of AP1000 follow-up projects.
