Prior to December 25, 2010, Suzhou GCL Optoelectronics Technology Holdings Co., Ltd. officially signed an LED epitaxial wafer and chip investment project with Yancheng Economic Development Zone. According to the plan, the Yancheng project will be an important base for the integration of LED epitaxial wafers and chip production, manufacturing and R&D. The total planned investment of the project is 2 billion US dollars, and the first phase investment is 650 million US dollars.
As of press time, three of the four LED production projects invested by GCL in Jiangsu last year have started construction.
The GCL Solar Technology Sapphire Crystal Project with a total investment of 3 billion yuan was started in October last year. The first phase of the project will invest 1 billion yuan, and 500 new sapphire crystal growth furnaces will be built. It is expected to be completed and put into production in early 2011. After the project is completed, it can realize an annual output of 20 million 2 to 4 inch LED sapphire substrate sheets.
The GCL Solar Zhangjiagang project officially started construction on March 2 this year. The project integrates R&D and production, and the products are mainly used to manufacture lighting and other LED applications. The planned total investment is 2.5 billion US dollars. It is planned to introduce 500 sets of epitaxial wafer epitaxy equipment MOCVD machine and chip supporting equipment, and plan to use 1000 mu of land. The first phase of the project has a total investment of 540 million US dollars and covers an area of ​​200 mu. It plans to introduce 160 sapphire substrate crystal growth furnaces and 100 MOCVD machines.
At present, the only LED sapphire single crystal substrate production line project of Xiexin Optoelectronic Technology (Xuzhou) Co., Ltd., which has not started construction, is also in the stage of public announcement. The total investment of the project is about 670 million yuan, and a new production line with an annual output of 4.2 million LED sapphire single crystal substrate sheets and supporting auxiliary facilities will be built.
According to the information previously learned by Gaogong LED reporters, GCL will invest 10 billion yuan in the construction of sapphire projects and epitaxial film projects in 2011, including Suining (320 units, 200 million US dollars) and Xuzhou (640). Taiwan, 200 million US dollars) will build 960 sapphire crystal growth furnaces, and build 200 MOCVD epitaxial equipments in Zhangjiagang, Yancheng, Wuzhong and Wujiang.
