From 1961 to 1962, he studied lighting engineering at the former East Germany Elmenno School of Electrical Engineering. In 1989, he was invited by the Royal Society to lecture and work in the UK for half a year. He used to be deputy director and director of the Institute of Building Physics of the China Academy of Building Research, and an executive member of the former International Lighting Commission (CIE). He is currently the director of the Institute of Physics of the Institute of Building Science, chief engineer, and consultant of the China Lighting Society (former vice chairman). ), Honorary Chairman of the Beijing Lighting Society, Director of the Chinese Architectural Society, Chairman of the Architectural Physics Branch of the Chinese Architectural Society, Adjunct Professor of the British Institute of Architecture, and Consultant of the Beijing Municipal Government Expert Advisory Group, enjoying the special allowance of the State Council.
For more than 40 years, he has been engaged in research work in architectural optics (architectural lighting). In 1959, he participated in the completion of the National Great Hall of the People's Republic of China and other National Day 10 landmark projects lighting lighting test research results, won the Ministry of Construction and Industry Awards. Awarded by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology; the overall planning and design of Tiananmen and Chang'an Street night lighting in 1997 was commended by the Beijing Municipal Government; at the 50th anniversary of the National Day in 1999, he was appointed as the leader of the Capital Night Lighting Expert Team. The work won the award of the National Day General Command and the advanced individual awards for Beijing Nightscape Lighting. In 1997, he won the title of “National Excellent Science and Technology Worker†and received the award from the International Commission on Illumination (CIE).
