The staff member mentioned that since the Provincial Public Security Bureau had already issued relevant air traffic control measures, the case was well-founded.

It is reported that on September 1, 2016, in order to further strengthen the safety management of the Sichuan Airport Clearance Protection Area, the Sichuan Provincial Public Security Department jointly issued a "Multiple Notices on Strengthening the Security Protection of the Air, Air, and Land Areas of Military and Civil Aviation Airports in the Province".

Experts: Drones and remotes are not in one place, difficult to track

In this incident, what kind of punishment might be faced by the drone controllers involved?

Wang Ya-nan, deputy editor of Aviation Knowledge, told the Xinhua News that the drone that entered the airfield protection zone might be sucked into the engine of the airliner. The most serious situation was the direct collision between the drone and the airliner. He said that according to the "Civil Aviation Law" and "Criminal Law" and other related laws and regulations, once the parties involved are caught, they may be held criminally liable.

"If you can't find the drone's location in time and drive it away, all incoming flights will be affected, so it's not unusual to affect so many flights," said Wang Ya-nan.

However, Wang Ya-nan admitted that in this situation, it is still difficult to get involved.

“The remote controller and the drone may not be in the same location. Because of remote distance, it is very likely that the drone will run when the drone causes an accident.” He said that all countries in the world are facing the law enforcement process. This kind of problem.

Wang Yanan explained that once he has caught the person involved, he can pursue his criminal liability according to the relevant provisions of the Civil Aviation Law and the Criminal Law.

Article 192 of the "Civil Aviation Law" stipulates that where violence is used against personnel on board a civil aircraft in flight and the flight safety is jeopardized, if serious consequences have not been caused, criminal responsibility shall be investigated in accordance with the provisions of Article 105 of the Criminal Law; If serious consequences are caused, criminal responsibility shall be investigated in accordance with Article 106 of the Criminal Law.

Article 114 of the Criminal Law stipulates that if other dangerous methods are used to jeopardize public safety and have not caused serious consequences, they shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years.

Wang Ya-nan said that the above regulations apply to the drone's controllers that led to the take-off and landing of 11 civilian airliners.

According to the “Beijing News” previously reported that in December 2013, the Beijing police had uncovered a case in which drones broke into the Capital International Airport. Four of the involved persons were detained for criminal offences on the suspicion of dangerous methods and methods of endangering public safety.
