He is a recognized pioneer in the field of lighting design and one of the early lighting designers in the world. According to his lighting theory, the luminaire can be a sculptural piece of art, but more importantly, it provides a glare-free, comfortable light that creates the right atmosphere.
All PH lamps have the following characteristics:
1. The light source is not visible from any angle to avoid glare.
2. All light is reflected to the working surface to achieve a soft, uniform illumination effect, avoiding the strong contrast between the shadows.

PH lamps were produced and sold by Louis Paulson as standard luminaires, and today, the company's catalogue still lists a wide range of PH lamps. The company also produces profiling products for PH lamps on an order-by-order basis, but these profiling products are no longer marketed as standard luminaires.
