Taiwan LED companies continue to enter the North American market through UL verification

Global Product Safety Testing and Certification Public Credit Agency - UL publishes safety standards for LED lighting products and related components - ANSI/UL 8750.

With the rise of global awareness of energy conservation, LEDs have been widely used in general lighting, underwater lighting, electronic signboards, and festive decorative lighting, plus LED backlights are widely used in NB, Monitor and TV, market estimates, 2012 The LED market will exceed the $5 billion mark. As LED technology moves toward new applications such as high voltage and high brightness, LED lighting products can be accepted and trusted by the public like ordinary lighting. Safety issues such as overheating, electric shock and fire have become challenges that manufacturers must overcome. In view of this, UL held a lighting industry seminar on the popularization trend of LED technology and its future application in lighting design and production. The opinions of all parties, combined with UL's professional experience in lighting inspection for nearly 80 years, published the first edition of the research outline in January 2007. After three revisions, it evolved into a blueprint for UL 8750.

For UL's global lighting inspection business, LED technology is a key development area of the current and future. UL has already begun to develop lighting-related specifications as early as the early 1920s, and developed various standards during the transformation of lighting industry such as the popularization of fluorescent lamps. For the testing of the industry, UL's current strength is enough to reconcile more than 30 safety and performance standards around the world, testing all types of lighting products and related components; in Taiwan, UL formed the LED lighting product consulting team in July this year, active Providing free consulting services and pre-testing of LED samples, reducing the threshold for manufacturers to explore their own safety standards, and providing a comprehensive standard of inspection and certification, to help Taiwan manufacturers to take a big step forward with international standards.

UL started the drafting of the verification specification in 2005, and now the first version of the standard is in force, establishing a global safety standards platform for the LED lighting equipment and component supply chain, providing the fair detection basis that the LED industry is eagerly awaiting. It is expected to drive more R&D investment in LED lighting products and expand the scale of the global industry.

UL said that Taiwan has the highest LED output in the world and the second largest LED output value in the world. Over the years, UL Taiwan has been committed to promoting the long-term development of the LED lighting industry, guiding manufacturers to consider international safety regulations at the front end of product design. Maintaining the global market advantage, Yangjie Technology, the leading manufacturer of LED street lamps in Taiwan, has become the first manufacturer to pass the LED street lamp in the North American market through UL Taiwan's certification service. In addition, Pei Xin Semiconductor, Yiguang Electronics, Xinqiang Optoelectronics and other manufacturers The LED lighting products have also passed the UL verification and successfully entered the North American market (Editor: Xiaozhou)
