According to reports, JP Morgan Chase advised investors on Friday to make the Air Tesla company. It is reported that this is not the first time that someone has called for short-selling Tesla. In the face of Model 3's difficult target, Tesla's pressure has increased. So Tesla is likely to raise more funds to dilute stocks.
JPMorgan analyst Ryan Brinkman also believes Tesla's competition with other automakers will intensify. Some established auto giants will seek to benefit from government subsidies.
"Compared to the increase in Model 3, Tesla will face multiple milestones in 2018. We believe that the increase in Model 3 is difficult to meet Tesla's goal, especially considering that its production this year is far less than expected. In the circumstances, Brinkman said on Friday, "The competition for electric vehicles next year will intensify, just as the regulatory environment in the United States is no longer so beneficial, including possible tax reforms, providing the buyer with a $7,500 federal tax credit. This is not the first time that a Wall Street analyst has suggested shorting Tesla. Brinkmann awarded Tesla's Underweight rating and a target price of $185, which is 40% lower than Tesla's closing price on Thursday.
Tesla shares have fallen by a factor of five compared to the stock price high of $385 per share set in September. Financial analyst firm S3 Partners said short sellers have made up $890 million in losses from Tesla's share price decline.
Tesla shares have risen 45% since January this year, but fell 0.8% on Friday.
