Qualcomm chip shipments about 1.3 million annual revenue 20% investment in R & D

Qualcomm’s 2011 Q3 financial report, which was just released, shows that Qualcomm’s MSM chip shipments reached 120 million units this quarter, an increase of 17% from the same period last year. This also means that Qualcomm’s chip shipments are as high as nearly 1.3 million units per day.

Of the ten tablet computers that have been released or commercially available, four are using dual-core MSM8660 chips.

Bill Davidson said that in terms of LTE, Qualcomm has invested the most in R&D. In terms of manpower, the LTE R&D team is currently Qualcomm’s largest R&D team. In terms of financial resources, Qualcomm invests more than 20% of its revenue in technology research and development every year, and large-scale continuous R&D investment is the key to maintaining Qualcomm's leadership in technology and products.
