Renesas Electronics deficit rises into bottomless pit at Japan's major semiconductor company

According to the Japan Sankei Shimbun on August 2nd report: Renesas Electronics, a large Japanese semiconductor company, announced on August 2 the results of the company’s accounts from April to June 2012. Due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, the company’s special loss amounted to 11 billion yen, and the final loss amounted to 33.2 billion yen (the deficit was 33 billion yen in the same period of last year).

Nagase Plant (Ibaraki Prefecture), the main product of the company's automotive-controlled semiconductor device, suddenly ceased production, resulting in a 29% reduction in company turnover from the same period last year to 207.1 billion yen. The company’s operating loss was 19.1 billion yen, compared to only 300 million yen in the same period last year.

The company’s performance forecast for March 2012 was a turnover of 109 billion yen, an operating loss of 28 billion yen, and a final operating loss of 40 billion yen.

The Renesas Electronic Deficit continues to rise and it is still unknown when it will stop.
