Light Function (Light Distribution)

The optical function of LED lamps involves key requirements in terms of brightness, spectrum, and color quality. These parameters determine how well the light performs in real-world applications.

According to the industry standard "Semiconductor LED Test Method," important parameters include the peak wavelength, spectral bandwidth, beam angle, luminous flux, radiant flux, illuminance, chromaticity coordinates, correlated color temperature, color purity, and dominant wavelength, among others.

White LEDs used in most LED lighting applications place special emphasis on color temperature, color rendering index, and illuminance. These are crucial for creating the right lighting atmosphere and visual effect. In contrast, color purity and dominant wavelength are often not as critical.

Thermal Function (Structure)

Power supply and thermal management are fundamental to the success of LED lighting. The junction temperature of the LED and the heat dissipation of the housing are especially important. A large temperature difference between the junction and the lamp body increases thermal resistance, which can lead to energy loss and even damage to the LED over time.

A good design considers not only the thermal performance of the LED but also the overall structure of the luminaire. It should be functional, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to maintain. Engineers must balance both technical and user-centered perspectives to ensure long-term reliability and usability.

Electrical Function (Electronic)

If a lighting fixture were a person, the light would be its soul, the structure its appearance, and the electronics its heart. Just like a person without a heartbeat has no life, a lamp without proper electronics won't function properly.

A high-quality driver can significantly impact the lifespan and performance of an LED luminaire. Electronic components are complex and require constant updates. Engineers must continuously learn and adapt to new technologies to stay competitive.

Planning and documentation are essential parts of the electronic development process. From initial power planning to final testing, every step requires detailed records. This includes product specifications, safety standards, performance expectations, material evaluations, and test procedures—all forming a comprehensive system of documentation.
