[Taipei News, March 8, 2011] - NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI) introduces the 3-channel LED driver UBA3077 for LCD display backlighting.
Based on NXP's GreenChipTM technology, the UBA3077 is a fully integrated switch mode solution for multi-channel applications, providing strong support for LED applications that are becoming the mainstream backlight for TV and computer displays, as well as the generalization of general LED lighting. By supporting low current dimming, the UBA3077 drives LED strings with precise constant current and improves LCD display backlighting, improving picture quality including deep dimming. With up to 94% efficiency, designers can use the UBA3077 to design thinner, lower power, and better heat dissipation LCD panels for better color ratios with better contrast ratios. NXP's UBA3077 is a CMOS50 Power Management (PM) process designed specifically for high-voltage integration in digital environments, combining power features with sophisticated digital processing and delivering best-in-class performance.
The UBA3077 consists of three independent channels, each incorporating its boost converter and power supply, so that the application design is not affected by the additional heat dissipation caused by the LED string voltage mismatch.
The UBA3077 uses integrated MOSFETs for boost converters and power supplies to help designers reduce application size and cost of external components.
· The UBA3077 has a highly linear and precise dimming function that achieves deep dimming at less than 1% of the light output, which helps improve picture quality.
· UBA3077 is equipped with independent pulse width modulation (PWM) control for each channel to provide high efficiency and precise light control.
• 14-bit PWM dimming (PWM generated by the system or internally generated) up to 24kHz (duty cycle from 0.1% to 100%).
· The UBA3077 operates from a voltage range of 10V to 42V and can drive up to three LED strings (each consisting of 20 LEDs) with a current rating of up to 150mA.
· The UBA3077 operates automatically or via the 400kHz I2C bus.
· UBA3077 is packaged in HVQFN40, which can achieve good heat dissipation through PCB.
