The ideal "AI era" is actually far away!

In recent years, the topic of artificial intelligence has been impossible to ignore. Especially after being mentioned in the government work report earlier this year, it has gained even more attention. Suddenly, we seem to be flooded with new technologies, algorithms, applications, and business models, as if we’ve stepped into the long-awaited "AI era." But beneath the surface excitement, there are always skeptics questioning the hype. Recently, Professor Wang Zhihua, Deputy Director of the Institute of Microelectronics at Tsinghua University, shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Magnesium.com. He stated bluntly that almost all current AI initiatives are essentially meaningless, and those claiming expertise in AI are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Professor Wang Zhihua, known for his work in integrated circuit design, electronic design automation, and digital audio/video signal processing, is considered a leading authority in these fields within China. His bold and humorous demeanor quickly set the tone for the interview. "Let’s talk about integrated circuits," he began with a laugh. "You’ve probably looked me up on Baidu before, so you already know my background. Integrated circuits are the backbone of everything we call 'artificial intelligence' today. You can’t discuss AI without talking about chips." He continued, "Integrated circuits are everywhere in our daily lives. Whether you're checking your social media in the middle of the night or using your phone to navigate while driving, you're interacting with integrated circuits. They’re the invisible foundation of modern life." China's semiconductor market has grown rapidly under national initiatives like the National Integrated Circuit Industry Development Promotion Program and the National IC Industry Investment Fund. From 2011 to 2016, the IC industry's revenue increased from 193.3 billion yuan to over 433.5 billion yuan, with growth rates consistently high. In 2016, the growth rate was 19%, and projections for 2017 suggest an 18-25% increase. "Integrated circuits are deeply embedded in human life," Wang emphasized. "They are not just tools—they are part of our existence. Whether it’s a smartphone or a missile defense system, integrated circuits are essential." Wang compared the importance of integrated circuits to clothing in society. "Imagine trying to live without them. You can’t. Just like you can’t live without clothes in modern society, you can’t live without integrated circuits in today’s world." Looking back, the journey of integrated circuits began with early communications. When Edison invented the telephone, the need for transmitting information became apparent. Later, with the invention of the computer in 1946, the demand for computing power grew exponentially. Today, the computing power in a single smartphone far surpasses that of the first computers. The evolution of integrated circuits has transformed industries. Traditional sectors like photography have been disrupted. Brands like Kodak and Fuji once dominated the market, but their reliance on film was rendered obsolete by the rise of digital technology. What once required chemical processes now happens through circuits. "The transition wasn't immediate," Wang explained. "From Einstein's discovery of the photoelectric effect to the creation of practical devices, it took over a century. But the impact of integrated circuits on society has been monumental." He concluded, "No other technology has had a greater influence on human society. It’s irreversible and unmatched. From agriculture to industry to the current digital age, integrated circuits represent a turning point in history."

Timer Relay

Digital Timer automatically turns the power of various powered devices on and off according to the time set by the user. The control object can be a street lamp, a neon lamp, an advertising sign lamp, a production device, a broadcast television device, and the like, and all power devices and household appliances that need to be turned on and off periodically. Built-in 1.2V/40mA can be charged, high precision, industrial grade chip, strong anti-interference.
