According to the report, a group of Chinese companies, including Qihoo 360 and Kunlun Wanwei, made a tender offer to acquire Opera, a Norwegian mobile browser company, for 10.5 billion Norwegian kroner, approximately $1.23 billion. The offer price stands at 71 NOK per share, which is 45.6% higher than Opera's closing stock price on Friday. Opera's shares have been suspended since last Friday, and the company had previously considered selling itself. In a statement, Opera's board of directors unanimously recommended that shareholders accept the offer. Alongside the listed companies, the acquisition also involves two private firms, Golden Brick and Yonglian Investment. The shareholders who agreed to the transaction hold 33% of Opera’s total share capital. Opera, a long-standing browser developer based in Norway, has been in operation for over two decades. It supports multiple platforms, both desktop and mobile. Despite facing competition from major browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, Opera maintains a 2% market share on desktops.
