Kia Jiale than Jade Big Odyssey, imported 7 Korean MPVs, the price is only 140,000, but no one opened

The MPV segment has long been a favorite among Chinese consumers. Joint ventures have consistently seen strong sales for models like the GL8, Odyssey, and Dejie, with profits often surpassing those of comparable sedans or SUVs from the same brands. Interestingly, while the Korean market also offers MPVs, many are imported, such as the Kia Jiale featured here. Despite its attractive price point and features, it hasn't garnered significant attention in China, making it a rare sight on the roads. Let’s take a closer look at this particular model. It's a seven-seater MPV available in five configurations. Measuring 4,525 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, 1,605 mm in height, and boasting a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, it may not be the largest in its class, but its sleek design and elevated stance give it a commanding presence. Surprisingly, the interior space feels surprisingly spacious, even compared to some competitors like the Odyssey. Its 2+2+3 seating arrangement adds to its practicality and modern aesthetic. The Kia Jiale comes equipped with LED taillights, enhancing visibility at night, though its headlights remain conventional halogen units. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter engine delivers 152 horsepower, which is adequate for its class. All models come with an automatic transmission, starting at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of 160,800 RMB, with discounts bringing it down to around 140,000 RMB. Given its imported status, the value proposition is solid, especially considering the MPV market's premium pricing. Inside, the cabin design leans toward simplicity, lacking some of the modern touches expected in today's vehicles. While it comes with an automatic transmission, a central touchscreen display isn’t standard, which is a missed opportunity in my opinion. A panoramic sunroof is available, but again, it’s not part of the base package. If these features were included as standard, I believe the Kia Jiale could significantly boost its appeal. One standout feature is the third-row seating, which is surprisingly comfortable given the compact dimensions. However, the side seats are slightly wider, leaving the middle seat somewhat cramped. This is a practical design choice, as full occupancy scenarios are less common. Still, for those who need to use the middle seat, it might feel a bit uncomfortable. Overall, despite its competitive pricing, the Kia Jiale struggles to find buyers, likely due to the brand’s relatively lower profile compared to its rivals. In conclusion, the Kia Jiale offers a compelling mix of affordability and utility, but it faces stiff competition in a crowded market. Its unique blend of features and pricing makes it an interesting option for budget-conscious buyers, but the brand’s lack of recognition in China remains a hurdle.
