OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has introduced a new generation of Oslux LED technology, bringing innovative solutions to the world of camera flash applications. The latest addition to the Oslux range, the Oslux S.2.1 all-in-one chip LED package, is a compact and highly advanced module that integrates two LED chips and a lens into a single unit. This integration marks a significant step forward in lighting technology, offering improved performance and design flexibility.
With a brightness of up to 125 lux, the Oslux S.2.1 ensures uniform illumination for high-quality photos and videos captured on smartphones and other mobile devices. Its dual color temperature (CCT) capability—combining a 6,000 K cold white chip and a 2,250 K warm white chip—allows for accurate color reproduction and consistent lighting across different scenes. The maximum color temperature deviation of just 300 K guarantees exceptional color fidelity, making it ideal for professional and consumer photography alike.
One of the key advantages of the Oslux S.2.1 is its streamlined design. By integrating the LED chips and silicon lens onto a printed circuit board, the module eliminates the need for complex assembly steps, saving time and optimizing light usage. Measuring 5.0 mm x 5.0 mm x 1.15 mm, the product is slightly larger than previous models but offers better space efficiency. Its compact form factor and reflow soldering compatibility make it easy to incorporate into standard manufacturing processes.

Looking ahead, OSRAM is already working on the next iteration of this technology. The Oslux S.2.2, set to launch in early 2018, will replace the silicon lens with an epoxy lens. This change allows for direct installation in mobile devices without the need for a protective window, opening up new possibilities for industrial design. Additionally, the spectrally optimized converter in the S.2.2 will further enhance photo performance, delivering even better image quality.
