How much impact does LG Korea's panel factory fire have on OLED production?

At about 2:54 pm on April 4, a fire broke out at LG Display's P10 plant in the northwest of Gyeonggi Province.

According to reports, the fire occurred at a construction site near an aeration tank of a wastewater treatment plant in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, where the plastic foam caught fire.

Ten employees of the factory were evacuated to the roof of the facility for rescue. After receiving the notification, the fire-fighting unit urgently dispatched dozens of firefighters to the rescue. All the workers were rescued but four people were injured by the smoke. They have been sent to hospital for medical treatment.

The police and fire department said they were investigating the cause of the fire.

It is understood that P10 facilities are unlikely to be affected because the fire point is still some distance away from the P10 factory. A representative of LG Display said: "We are building a wastewater treatment facility as a P10 facility and causing a fire."

The company is assessing the damage caused by the fire, but even considering the damage to the plant at the wastewater plant, it will not affect the P10 production in 2020. LG Display officials said: "We can use the wastewater purification facilities in the production plant."

This is the second safety-related accident in Paju. In January of this year, a contractor died while replacing wires on a freight elevator that transported LCD panels.
