Increase the output of Move, Sony wants to attract Vive and Oculus users to PSVR

VR Network has learned that Sony is ramping up the production of the PlayStation Move motion controller to support the growing demand for VR content on the PS VR platform. At the Develop:VR conference in London, Stuart Whyte, Director of VR Product Development at Sony London Studios, shared insights about the increasing integration of the Move controller with PS VR games. He stated, “Currently, two-thirds of the games released on PlayStation VR are either compatible with or require the Move controller. As more Oculus and Vive titles make their way to PS VR, we anticipate this percentage will rise even further. To meet this growing demand, Sony is boosting the production of the Move.” [Image: http://i.bosscdn.com/blog/40/3f/f3/f6b54367533e3868282cf8b24f.jpg] Since its launch in October 2016, PS VR has consistently held a strong position in the market. With an expanding user base, more developers from the Oculus and Vive ecosystems are now looking to bring their games to the PlayStation platform. This shift is driving a renewed interest in the PlayStation Move, which had previously struggled to find its place in the gaming landscape. Initially introduced in 2010 as a competitor to Nintendo’s Wii, the Move never achieved the same level of success as its main console. However, with the rise of VR, the Move has found a new purpose. According to Whyte, “Most of today’s VR games are smaller experiences, designed to help developers get familiar with the platform. But for VR to truly evolve, we need bigger, more immersive experiences—specifically, 3A-quality titles tailored for VR.” Whyte also mentioned that the development team is exploring ways to integrate standard control options into future projects. One of their key goals is to support the PlayStation Move in the upcoming VR shooter *Blood & Truth*, developed by the Sony London team. Inspired by *PlayStation VR Worlds*, this title aims to offer a more refined and optimized experience for Move users. With continued investment in both hardware and software, Sony is positioning itself to lead the next wave of VR innovation, ensuring that the PlayStation ecosystem remains competitive and appealing to both developers and gamers alike.
