Many users have some basic knowledge about using a conductivity meter and the electrode, but not everyone is fully familiar with all the details. Some may be confused about how to properly operate the device before and after turning it on, or how to check for issues before starting. For example, they might not know how to calibrate the meter, where to find the components, or what to do if something doesn’t work as expected. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the process step by step, helping you gain a better understanding of how to use the conductivity meter effectively.

Before turning on the power, make sure the needle is at zero. If it’s not, adjust the zeroing screw accordingly. Next, move the calibration and measurement switch to the calibration position. Plug in the power cord and turn on the switch. Let the device warm up for a few minutes, then adjust the regulator so that the needle reaches full scale. When measuring a liquid with a conductivity below 300, use the low range. If the conductivity is between 300 and 10,000, switch to the high range. Always start with the highest range if you're unsure of the solution's conductivity to avoid damaging the probe.

For reading, set the constant knob to 1.0. Before measuring, rotate the ADI to the maximum value and slowly adjust it. Place the switch in the calibration mode to adjust the zero point, select the appropriate range, and then switch to the measurement position. Use the electrode holder to secure the electrode on the rod. For solutions with conductivity below 10, use a DJS-type 1 bright electrode. Adjust R to match the electrode’s constant—like 0.95 or 1.1. For higher conductivity, use a DJS-type 1 platinum black electrode. For very high conductivity, use a DJS-type 10 platinum black electrode and ensure the R is properly inserted and tightened.

When measuring high-purity water (0–0.1 or 0–0.3), insert the electrode into the socket first, then adjust the meter to the minimum value before immersing the electrode. To monitor changes during measurement, connect the 10mV output to an automatic potentiometer. When using the ×0.1 range, keep the switch in the low cycle. If the meter shows a reading even without the electrode plugged in, this is normal due to capacitance. You can adjust the capacitance compensation to zero it out, but simply wait until the electrode is connected and then set the reading to the minimum.

When using odd-numbered ranges, read the scale above the surface; for even-numbered ranges, read the scale below. Always double-check your settings and ensure the electrode is fully immersed in the solution. After measuring, multiply the displayed value by the range setting to get the actual conductivity of the liquid. Following these steps will help improve accuracy and prevent common mistakes when using a conductivity meter.

Inverter And Battery 2-in-1

The inverter and battery 2 in 1 is a versatile and efficient power solution designed to meet the needs of both residential and commercial users.
