TDK launches high-performance wireless LAN (WLAN)-Bluetooth filter for smartphones

TDK has introduced a cutting-edge EPCOS wireless local area network (WLAN)-Bluetooth filter designed to support the coexistence of multiple technologies—such as mobile phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and satellite navigation—on a single antenna. This new filter, the B8831, is built on advanced second-generation BAW technology (BAW2), offering improved performance over its predecessor. With an impressive quality factor and a significantly reduced insertion loss of just 1.1dB, it sets a new standard in the industry.

As the demand for wireless services continues to rise, spectrum becomes more congested, making interference management critical. The B8831 filter excels in this environment, especially in the 2400–2843 MHz range where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth operate close to LTE bands 7, 40, and 41. Thanks to its low insertion loss and strong out-of-band rejection, the filter effectively minimizes signal interference between WLAN/Bluetooth and adjacent high-band signals, ensuring stable performance without increasing power consumption.

This compact filter measures only 1.1 mm × 0.9 mm, with an ultra-thin version (1109) that stands at just 0.4 mm in height, making it ideal for space-constrained devices like smartphones and wearables.
