Support for USB storage devices compliant with the SeeQVaultTM standard
Tokyo-Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced the launch of the bridge chip "TC358782XBG" that supports the next-generation security specification SeeQVaultTM. SeeQVaultTM supports the transfer of copy-protected HD content to portable storage devices. Samples will be available starting in April and volume production is scheduled to begin in August.
Protected HD content cannot be transferred to external storage; users need to play content on the device that recorded it or convert it to SD quality. SeeQVaultTM provides a solution for compatible devices and enables HD content to be played on multiple platforms. Each of the SeeQVaultTM compliant flash memories (such as SD memory cards) will be assigned a security ID to perform the above functions.
The "TC358782XBG" brings the capabilities of SeeQVaultTM to portable storage devices such as USB HDDs. It supports secure transmission of HD content and allows users to play HD content on multiple devices that are compatible with the SeeQVaultTM standard.
