The Eye Tribe product includes a $99 toolkit for eye tracking device developers that embed eye-gazing interface technology into smartphones and potential virtual reality eyewear products.
The Eye Tribe has raised approximately $3 million from several investors including startup Bootcamp.
The specific financial details of the acquisition are not yet known.
In October, Google also acquired Eyefluence, an eye tracking technology company founded in 2013. The company has developed an eye tracking technology for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Eyefluence has applied for a number of patents for eye tracking technology.
In addition, Oculus announced a restructuring plan this month to set up the PC VR and mobile VR divisions. The original CEO Ilebu will be responsible for the PC-side virtual reality business, including Rift.
