[Audio Encyclopedia] Phase 6 Interface Knowledge: VGA Interface

VGA (Video Graphics Array) is a computer display standard that IBM proposed in 1987 using analog signals. The VGA interface is a dedicated interface for the computer to use VGA standard output data. The VGA interface is the most widely used interface type on graphics cards. Most graphics cards have this type of interface, which transmits RGB analog signals and line and field sync signals.

The VGA interface is a D-type interface, so we sometimes call it the D-Sub interface. There are 15 pinholes on the interface, divided into three rows, five in each row. Among them, in addition to two NC (Not Connect) signals, three display data buses, and five GND signals, three RGB color component signals and two scan sync signals HSYNC and VSYNC pins are important.

The interface pin analysis diagram is as follows:

Although many of the current liquid crystal displays can directly receive digital signals, many low-end products use a VGA interface in order to match the VGA interface card. It can be seen that although the VGA interface is an analog interface, its important position in computer applications cannot be replaced by digital interfaces in the short term.

The signal transmission process between the computer through the VGA interface and the external display device is as follows: through the analog VGA interface, the digitally generated display image information inside the computer is converted into the three primary colors of R, G, and B by the digital/analog converter in the video card. The signal and the line and field sync signals are transmitted to the display device via the Cable . For analog display devices, such as analog CRT displays, the signal is sent directly to the corresponding processing circuit, which drives the control tube to generate an image.

For digital display devices such as LCD and DLP, a corresponding A/D (analog/digital) converter is required in the display device to convert the analog signal into a digital signal. After D/A and A/D2 conversions, some image details are inevitably lost. The VGA interface is useless for CRT displays, but it is used to connect display devices such as liquid crystals, and the image loss during the conversion process will slightly reduce the display effect.

CREATOR has always been striving for excellence in signal transmission and conversion technology, and various analog and digital signal interfaces are everywhere in the product. Today, I mainly show you some D/A converters and A/D converters for VGA interface, and CREATOR is a long-line driver developed to solve the problem of fast VGA signal attenuation and short transmission distance.

CREATOR fast analog / digital conversion products: VGADVI digitizer VCER-101I VGA / DVI

CREATOR fast digital / analog conversion products: DVIVGA digital converter VCER-101I DVI / VGA

VGA interface analog signal transmission extension product: RGB signal 120 meters long line driver VEXTD-102I RGB/120

The next issue of pushing the encyclopedia message about the interface will open a question and answer question about this issue. The question type is a multiple-choice question, the number is 3-5, the difficulty is not big, everyone can grasp the opportunity to send benefits!
